Biography & Press

Tyler Kinney is a freelance costume designer for the screen & stage. For the last ten years he has worked in costume departments of major motion pictures.  Highlighted work includes assistant costume designing DEFENDING JACOB (Apple TV+) CASTLE ROCK (Hulu) and THE SOCIETY (Netflix).  Tyler is also an award winning costume designer for theater.  He has worked with regional theaters (Shakespeare & Company, Speakeasy Stage, Lyric Stage Company, Actor Shakespeare Company, New Repertory Theater, Company One) and universities in the greater Boston area including Brandeis, Berklee, and Suffolk. Tyler taught costume design at Emerson College where he also received his BFA in Theatre Design/Technology.  He is an alumni of Rutgers at the Shakespeare Globe program in London UK and was a co-designer for the 2015 Prague Quadrennial USA student exhibit.  Tyler is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829, Costume Designers Guild Local 892, and New England Studio Mechanics Local 481.
